Koi is the Bengali name of Climbing Perch and one of the popular fish in Bangladesh. Bangladeshi people like some spicy on their curry dish . In this recipe has used some of Bangladeshi spices, herbs and Mango pickle.
Ingredients
- 02 pcs climbing perch (koi fish)
- 01 tbsp mango pickle
- 02 pcs green chili
- 01 pinch of black cumin
- 01 pinch of mustard seed
- 01 pcs bay leaf
- 02 pcs red chili dry
- 01 tsp turmeric powder
- 01 tsp cumin powder
- ½ tsp coriander powder
- 02 pcs medium size onion
- 01 tsp garlic paste
- 01 tsp ginger paste
- 02tbsp mustard Oil/cooking Oil
For marination
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/3 dry red chili powder
- 01 tsp lemon juice
Method
* Scales out from the fish and cut the fin
* Wash well the fish and trim on the surface of the fish
* Shredded onion very thinly and make ginger & garlic paste
** Marinate the fish with Salt, Lemon Juice, Turmeric Powder and Red Chili Powder then keep it rest for 15 minutes.
** In medium high heat fry the fish with little amount of oil then keep a side
** In a different pan heat oil and add —Bay Leaf, Dry Red Chili, mustard seeds and black cumin . Add shredded onion on the pan and stir well.
** When Onion will be brown then add Garlic Paste, Ginger paste, and Green Chili. Stir very well
** Add Cumin Powder, Turmeric Powder, coriander powder and Salt then add half cup of hot water.
** After few minutes add the fried fish and mango pickle on the pan and cook for about 05 minutes.
** Cook until Oil and flavor come out from the fish curry. After finish cooking enjoy achari koi with steam rice.
Steam Rice is the best accompanied with this dish.
