“Bhapa Pitha” is one of the popular rice cake in Bengal. Bhapa pitha is most popular in winter season, all over Bangladesh and west Bengal, India. This seasons you can find it any house, hotel, restaurant and also in a street side.  It’s made by coconut, molasses and rice flour

Rice flour is the main ingredients of this dish and it is different from regular rice flour. This flour is not so fine powder, its size same like sugar. For making the rice flour need to use sunned rice. Soak the sunned rice in room temperature water minimum 01-02 hour, after that drain water by using strainer. Make powder the wet rice on the food processor (rice should not be fine powder).

Ingredients

  • 200 g. rice flour
  • 50 g. shred coconut
  • 40 g. molasses
  • 03 g. salt

Method

Mixed salt with 02 tbsp water then mixed with the rice flour, after that cover for 15-20 minutes with a towel.

A muslin cloth or banana leaf place on the surface of steamer tray then place a ring mold on the top of muslin cloth or banana leaf

30% of the ring mold fill-up by rice flour then put shred coconut and molasses on the mold again, put rice flour on the mold.

Return the steamer-tray with pitha to the steamer, cover by lid and steam for about 10-12 minutes.

BhaAfter properly cooked the “bhapa pitha” enjoy it.
